For some people, the open road is a lonely one. Meeting people while working as a professional traveler can be difficult and frustrating. Not so for Gene and Linda Brown. The two met while Gene was working as a traveling ultrasonographer for a medical staffing firm in Fairbanks, Alaska. It was a particularly cold and dark winter.
“You could throw a cup of coffee and it would freeze before it hit the ground,” said Linda, “People would blow bubbles and the bubbles would freeze, and then you could roll them along like marbles.”
These may sound like urban legends to those who live in the lower 48, but Linda swears it’s true. Linda and Gene met on an online dating site and quickly fell in love and married. Now the two travel together.
“Linda had a lot of qualities I was looking for,” Gene said, “I still chuckle when I think of her doing things like traveling down the Al-Can highway by herself.”
